Job Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of a multi-shift manufacturing operation. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for all plant activities, including safety, production, maintenance, quality, financial performance, employee development, and continuous improvement. The Plant Manager is accountable for P&L performance, capital and operating budgets, regulatory compliance, and the effective management of salaried and hourly employees. This position drives operational excellence while ensuring a safe, efficient, and sustainable operation that supports the company's business objectives.U.S. Silica is a leading producer of industrial minerals essential to modern life. U.S. Silica is a smoke- and drug-free workplace.Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required.Minimum of 6 years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, mining, mineral processing, or another heavy industrial environment.Experience leading multi-shift operations with responsibility for plant performance.Demonstrated experience managing operating budgets, capital expenditures, and P&L performance.Knowledge of mining, mineral processing, or industrial manufacturing processes preferred.Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Maintenance Excellence experience preferred.Strong leadership skills with experience supervising, coaching, and developing salaried and hourly employees in union and/or non-union environments.Experience managing employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organizational development.Strong understanding of industrial operations, manufacturing processes, and operational best practices.Proven ability to identify root causes, solve complex operational problems, and implement effective solutions.Ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders.Strong organizational, analytical, decision-making, and project management skills.Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, cost control, and operational reporting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.Ability to work in both office and plant environments, including periodic travel to other facilities, customers, suppliers, and industry meetings as needed.Lead and manage all day-to-day plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance.Supervise and develop department managers, supervisors, and hourly employees while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Ensure production, quality, maintenance, environmental, and operational goals are achieved in accordance with company policies and procedures.Develop and execute operational strategies that support plant performance, business objectives, and long-term growth.Oversee annual operating and capital budgets, including full P&L responsibility.Plan, prioritize, and manage capital improvement projects from initiation through completion.Monitor plant performance through key performance indicators and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, equipment reliability, efficiency, and profitability.Drive Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.Allocate personnel, equipment, and financial resources based on operational priorities.Evaluate and improve plant policies, procedures, and operational processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.Lead hiring, training, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.Foster positive working relationships with employees, corporate leadership, customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies, community partners, and industry organizations.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety, environmental, and operating regulations, permits, and U.S. Silica policies and procedures.Provide regular operational, financial, and capital project updates to corporate leadership.Respond to critical operational issues and provide leadership during emergencies.Perform additional duties as assigned.Full timePosting Date: 2026-08-04
