Wire EDM MachinistBack To List Wire EDM Machinist Apply Location Chesapeake, VA Type Temp to Hire ID j-14669Major Responsibilities & Essential FunctionsSet up and operate CNC Wire EDM machines to cut and shape various precision partsProperly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machinesRecognize, deploy, and properly use inserts, fixtures, and toolingRead and interpret applicable drawings and blueprints of work to be performed and follows instructionsMust be able to determine the proper tools required to perform given taskOperates and utilizes lifting aids as necessary to perform workUse precision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)Perform daily, regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipmentAbility to read travelersPerform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner while maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulationsWork overtime as needed on evenings and/or weekendsCommunicates with others to coordinate work in plantOther duties as assignedQualificationsUnderstanding of Wire EDM process, setup, and maintenanceUnderstanding of G, D, and THigh school diploma or GED3 to 5 years related experience is preferredLanguage skills - effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English languageAbility to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful mannerAbility and willingness to learnAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesA strong, proven interest in engineering and mechanical systemsRead blueprints and precision measuring toolsAbility to perform basic mathematical computationsAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situationsMust have basic machinist tools
