Part-Time Accounting Specialist
Location: Naperville, IL
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week (Flexible)
Pay Rate: $30-$35/hour
Job Type: Temporary with potential for long-term part-time employment
About the Opportunity Our client, a family-owned business with an eight-person office, is seeking a
Part-Time Accounting Specialist to support their Accountant with day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative, small-business environment and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.
Responsibilities - Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Support monthly close activities and reconciliations
- Maintain Excel spreadsheets and financial reports
- Participate in the weekly Bank/Borrowing Base Certificate (BBC) reporting process, including AP, AR, and inventory data
- Support accounting recordkeeping and general financial operations
- Assist the Accountant and business owner with ad hoc accounting projects
Required: - 2+ years of experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and journal entries
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Knowledge of month-end close processes
- Ability to work independently in a small-office environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred: - QuickBooks experience
- Small business or family-owned company experience
- Experience preparing or assisting with borrowing base or cash reporting
