The ideal candidate will create engaging, standards-aligned instruction that builds strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and student voice. You will join a mission-driven team committed to academic excellence and deep care for our students.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver clear, rigorous ELA lessons using Understanding by Design (UbD)Create meaningful learning experiences that connect to students’ identities and lived experiences.Use varied instructional strategies to support all learners (collaboration, modeling, literacy in content, differentiation)Monitor student learning through ongoing assessments and adjust instruction accordingly.Provide timely, specific feedback to strengthen reading, writing, and analytical skillsMaintain accurate digital course materials and assignments.Build a structured, respectful classroom culture aligned with LSJ expectations.Communicate proactively with families regarding student progressCollaborate with colleagues and contribute to school-wide goals and professional learningRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related fieldNYS Certification in ELAMinimum 2 years of prior teaching experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong classroom management and lesson-planning abilityComfort using instructional technology, including Google Classroom and other digital learning toolsCommitment to continuous professional growthPreferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Secondary Education or related fieldExperience teaching ELA in grades 8–12Demonstrated success in urban and/or non-traditional school settingsBilingual in English and SpanishStrong facility with culturally responsive curriculum and instruction #J-18808-Ljbffr
